| BACKGROUND & HISTORY |
|
He was born on the 14th of August 2380 at the city of Sendai, to Louis Vidal and Aiko Uesugi. He had an older brother by eleven years, Drake Vidal, and being the youngest by such a large age cap he would therefore received plenty of attention throughout his childhood. He was generally a cheerful child who cared about his friends and family greatly, especially his uncle Ronin Uesugi. Both his father and uncle were civilian shuttle engineers contracted to Starfleet and his mother a local school teacher. He spent the first few years of his life growing up in the busy city of Sendai, Japan, until the family moved to Orleans, France. Although based in Orleans, Duncan as he grew older would regularly visit Sendai and would therefore becoming accustomed to both cultures. Duncan's father brought him up on football and fishing, while his uncle taught him archery and Kendo, his mother more content that he could read and write Standard Federation, French and Japanese. The varied education created a strong willed and talented youth who was destined to achieve many feats. As he progressed through high school, his family encouraged him to take a look at Starfleet and the opportunities it would provide him with. He decided in the end to join the fleet, so when he finally finished his schooling, he enlisted. He was sent to Starfleet Tokyo Base for six months to under go Starfleet Recruit Training and was instructed in Starfleet etiquette, first aid, basic electronics, intelligence, communicators, computer operation, sensors, EVA usage and Zero-G combat, Sykes-Fairbairn knife training, weapons proficiencies in both phasers and phaser rifles, and Starfleet Martial Arts. After graduating from Starfleet Recruit Training, he stayed on at Starfleet Tokyo Base for another six weeks under going security specialization training; where he was taught to drive automobiles such as the Argo Buggy, learnt the more advanced techniques of Starfleet Martial Arts and took on advanced weapons training, being instructed in the use of the experimental at the time Type-Nine Phaser Rifle. With training completed the eight-teen year old crewmen third class was ordered onto the USS Brandenburg on a four year exploration mission as the starship headed out towards the edge of the alpha quadrant. Four years away from home and ones family is always a difficult prospect for anyone especially for a young enlisted crewman, but Duncan poured himself into work and rose through the crewmen ranks and was even decorated for his actions during a skirmish with the Hydran. On completion of the four year mission, he was promoted to the rank of Petty Officer third class and after several months leave on Earth he was posted to the USS Cheron and placed in command of the Security Team Four. He spent one year on the Cheron before he was transferred to the USS Agincourt. Life onboard the USS Agincourt was challenging as the young Petty Officer, 3rd Class found him self onboard one of the toughest fighting ships in the fleet. Named after a famous British warship, she also seemed to fight like one, the Nebula Class ship being involved in constant skirmishes with the Breen while on her exploration of the Chenobi Sector. In 2404 he'd even receive the Starfleet Cross along with two other officers for the defense of the Bolian Colony of Botanis, during a Breen raid. The next year would see the end of the USS Agincourt exploration mission of the Chenobi Sector and along with the standard Exploration Ribbon; he received the Legion of Honor for his efforts. Finally returning home in 2405 he received news of his acceptance to Advanced Tactical Training on Earth upon recommendation from his captain. Although he would miss the Agincourt he readily accepted the move back to Earth and the training course believing it would provide more of a challenge as well as a chance to be recognized for his efforts. Returning to Earth in 2405 to undergo Advanced Tactical Training, the course was extremely difficult, far more then Starfleet Academy had been and half the class washed out over the two years. He would pass the Advance Tactical Training and afterwards go onto NCO Command School. In 2407 he began attending Starfleet's NCO Command School and was able to a slip into the routine with ease due to the severity of his previous course. At NCO Command School he undertook various ship command courses, and studied the various ship departments and their duties; science security, engineering, tactical, and intelligence. Starship maneuvering was one course he excelled in. After his successful completion of NCO Command School in early 2409 he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and moved into the non-commissioned officer reserve pool, awaiting an assignment from Starfleet. In 2410 he came over to the newly commissioned Prospero as a Master-at-Arms. He served well for two years under various security chiefs and participated in the repelling of the T'sarian boarding parties in late 2410, and the Klingon boarding parties in 2411. In mid-2412 he was promoted to Chief Master-at-Arms. |
| PERSONALITY PROFILE |
| He's not the man you send to lead important diplomatic missions, he is a security officer after all and tends to shoot first and ask questions later. Duncan is your stereo-typical human; tough, fierce, resilient. He spent his childhood either fighting, playing football, practicing his archery or kendo, never really one to be content to stay at home and read a book if there was something exciting to do (Although he does read quite a lot). He perhaps has a little too much confidence, which has led to several messy situations in the past. Not one to shy away from things and rarely worried about the consequences of his actions. |
