| BACKGROUND & HISTORY |
|
Devon William Slayton is the first child of Kaylee and Marcus Slayton, concieved the night prior to the first Battle of Romulus and was later born on the third starship to bear the name Pegasus a full nine months later. When Devon first learned to talk, his parents found that sometimes that he would talk in a language that neither of his parents could speak but it was eventually found later in his childhood that Devon could naturally speak any language. Due to this, his parents soon found out that the language that he was speaking was Ferengi, which was being listened to by the person in the next quarters who was trying to learn it when Devon was still a small child. As a child, Devon was bright and intelligent and asked all of the normal questions that a child would ask. But due to the fact that both of his parents were engineers, he quickly picked up engineering PADDs among other things and started to slowly understand the complexity of Starship Engineering which lead to his parents both thinking that Devon would follow them into Engineering if he joined Starfleet. However, when he was 12, a tradgedy struck Devon and his family. During one of the many crisis that cropped up in the years between his birth and Devon joining Starfleet, his father-now a Commodore in the fleet-was asked to take command of the USS Jason Bourne following the death of Captain Imra Ardeen two weeks prior and he was asked to undergo a joint Federation/Cardassian/Romulan mission into a sector of space near the newly defined Hydran borders. Aside from a brief message from the flagship of this mission, all communication with the task force was lost and other things started to come up that would drag the attention away from seven missing starships. To this day, Devon still feels that his father is still alive out there, somewhere. Possibly being held by a future possible threat to the Federation and it's allies. At the age of 16, Devon surprised his entire family by being the first member to enter the Academy with a major in Intelligence. During his time there, Devon's talents with languages combined with his intelligence allowed him to understand what it meant to be an officer and he graduated as an intelligence officer aboard the USS Beowulf in the First Fleet under the command of Fleet Captain Rachel Satori and during his time as apart of Fleet Admiral Elaithin Jii's First Fleet, Devon soon found himself transferred to the USS Victory, a Concorde class Carrier when the Beowulf was decommissioned in May of 2406, shortly before his birthday. During the time under the command of his Uncle Chris, he was involved in helping to obtain some much needed experience in something that had eluded Devon up to this point-relationships with women. It was during this time that he became involved with Bhetsi Ardeen, a young Science officer on the Victory but that relationship ended after an away team to help a stranded freighter was destroyed by Breen pirates. Devon hasn't dated since as the two had grown seriously close and Devon is afraid of growing that close to someone again. After his time on the Victory ended, Devon was transferred to replace an analyst who was transferring off the USS Texas and was assigned to that ship's intelligence branch where he served also in the position as the ship's Strategic Operations Officer without anything happening for three years before he was asked to be the Intelligence Liaison aboard the USS Prospero by his superiors who felt that the ship needed an additional hand in the Operations Department if needed. He was declared lost throughout 2412 but was found in 2413 on the capital planet in the Reman Protectorate, still in what was left of his uniform before he was returned to the Federation. In 2414, he was re-assigned to the USS Prospero as it's Chief of Intelligence again. |
| PERSONALITY PROFILE |
|
Devon Slayton is a calm
and collected person, preferring to spend his off duty hours quiet and in
study but this doesn't mean that he doesn't have any people skills. He is
currently trying to obtain a Level Five pilots training so that he can
pilot runabouts and other small craft used by the Federation without
having to be a liability in the field. Devon, due to his Uncle Daniel, has picked up Forensic Science as a hobby and this has also helped him in a few of the missions that he's been apart of when they had someone died under strange circumstances. As it is more of a hobby than anything, Devon has not tried to pursue getting a degree in it from either the Vulcan or Trill Science Academies. Furthermore, Devon is protective of his kid sister, Dina, who is about to graduate from the academy. Devon maintains close connections to his entire family but feels that his father, even though declared dead by Starfleet Command and the United Federation of Planets, is still alive somewhere and waiting for someone to come and save him and the other survivors of the seven ship task force from whatever has them. He still maintains close ties to his mother and younger sister as well. Devon is currently single but is afraid of looking for fear of that person might die because of their connection to him. This is a fear that he has managed to keep to himself for the past few years since Bhetsi's death. But he is not above doing something that both of his parents taught him which is to follow his gut and heart's instincts. |
| SPECIAL CHARACTER NOTES |
|
Devon is a bright young
man who has a natural talent which allows him to speak most languages
within a few minutes of hearing them, a prime example of this talent was
found in one Lieutenant Hoshi Sato during the years prior to the formation
of the Federation. Devon is currently still recovering from an injury to his right knee for which he walks with a pronounced limp and uses a cane. |
