Janeen
grew up on the Jaxom family rapeg farm in the Pana
Valley Region on Trill. She had a normal upbringing
with her two older brothers, Jaal and Jamus. When she
was ten, her brother Jaal left for Starfleet Academy.
Whenever he came home she was always fascinated by the
stories of his adventures in space. When she was
eighteen, Janeen stowed away on a runabout Jaal and
his wife used to come to Trill for a visit. After
being found out, Jaal and their parents agreed to
let Janeen spend some time on the USS Miranda to see
if she'd actually like living and working in space. It turns
out she did even after some trying events. After almost a year she opted to attend Starfleet Academy. Janeen managed to graduate in the top ten percent of her class. Next was an assignment to the USS Resolution. While on the USS Remora, Janeen further enhanced her skills in ship's operations and took on an interest in engineering. This surprised many people that knew her well as she was never really considered the 'techie' type. The Remora has the distinction of being one of the first ships to deliver the anti-virus that defeated the Aean in the 2390's. When ordered to attack what was thought to be a bio-genetic weapon production facility, they crew stumbled upon a group of scientists working together to created a cure of sorts. The diplomats were called in and it was decided that once the cure was ready, the Remora would deliver it throughout Starfleet and from there wherever it was needed. During this time the ship's crew was exposed to the tetra-dynamic radiation which was thought to be harmless to all but the Aean. The unusual radiation had the unexpected side effect of fading Trill's and other species dermal markings. Once the scourge of the Aean was eradicated, Janeen was offered, and accepted a posting on the USS Cleveland as the first officer. This was another surprise to those who knew her well, especially her older brother, Jaal. Being offered a command position was hard for Janeen to turn down, after all, that's how her brother received his own command. While serving on the Cleveland, a smaller border patrol craft, Janeen learned many things about tactics and enemy engagements. While on patrol there were many chances to engage most of the known races in and out of the Federation. Sometimes they won, sometimes they lost, but in all cases Janeen came away learning something new. Now, with the new push for exploration, Janeen gets her own command with orders to boldly go out and perform Starfleet's first and most honorable tradition ... Deities help us all. Janeen has never married or had children, but has been involved in a number of relationships throughout her career. She is currently not dating anyone and not really looking. She prefers to just 'see what happens' and plays things in the personal relationship arena by ear. (update goes here) |
| PERSONALITY PROFILE |
| Janeen is very outgoing and fun loving despite all the hostility she's witnessed since enlisting in Starfleet. She plays the guitar and sings. She also practices with and is proficient using Vulcan lirpas. Janeen is a 'fair' hand-to-hand combatant and a marksman with type I and type II phasers. Starfleet, combined with all the conflict she's lived through over the years, has made her somewhat of an adrenaline junkie. She will often go on away missions instead of letting her commanding officer go. She usually wears her hair in a short bob haircut sometimes letting grow out to shoulder length. |

| WRITER'S NOTES |
| Janeen is the younger sister of another character of mine. She came about when I wanted to challenge myself by writing a character that was mostly the opposite of myself. This new character had to be female. I first wrote her as the civilian stowaway on USS Miranda. At about the same time I wrote a slightly older version of Janeen on USS Resolution. Now that I'm GM-ing a game further into the future, Janeen was the natural choice to put on the Prospero. |
