Known
History Includes: Jander was severely used and abused
by the Orions and Section 31. From an early age the
Orions, once they captured him, forced him into sexual
slavery and had implanted him with a device that would
make him take the shape of the customer's 'ideal'. The
ship he was on lost power during a bad ion storm and
crashed landed on a deserted planet. Jander was found
a month later by a Starfleet survey vessel. He was
then taken to a nearby starbase and nursed back to
health physically, he remained mentally scarred even
after the Orion implant was found and removed. Jander
more or less disappeared for about eight years, then
was found again deserted on another planet with a high
ranking Federation Ambassador. After his second
rescue, he enlisted in Starfleet Academy. Jander
graduated near the top of his class and was then
recruited for Starfleet Intelligence once they
realized what he was a shapeshifter. Now Jander is a
veteran of over one hundred deep under-cover and
otherwise covert assignments. He has successfully
impersonated most species of the Federation and few
from outside the Federation from all walks of life. Classified History Includes: After his first rescue he was kidnapped by the notorious organization known only as Section 31. Once they realized Jander was a shapeshifter, they could not resist using him as a tool for furthering their cause. While with the Section he as trained as a lethal assassin. The Section turned him into a 'tool', like the Orions had, but with an opposite purpose, a remorseless killer devoid of emotion. That changed however when he sent on a mission to assassinate a high ranking Federation ambassador. While posing as a diplomatic attache and traveling to a conference near Romulan space, their ship was attacked and forced down. Found marooned and injured, yet again, but this time with some company, Jander had gotten to know his target, usually a fatal mistake for any assassin. Their survival depending on mutual trust, and thinking they would never be found, they bared their souls and told each other their life's stories during the eight months they spent together. Arlus, the Bolian ambassador was horrorfied at Jander's involvement with Section 31. When Jander realized the evil he was doing within that organization, he vowed to change his ways. There was no way he was going to let anyone make him a pawn any longer. That's when he joined Starfleet. To this day Section 31 is still after him, when they get close, however, he just changes his 'disguise' and assumes a new identity. Today he is still on the run from the Section. Jander was taken in by SIBOD shortly after graduation from the academy. Once if was found out that he could change his appearance on a whim he was instantly recruited. His morphing abilities make him the perfect undercover agent for long term assignments. Since being in SIBOD, most of his assignments have been of the deep under cover variety gathering information and keeping tabs on troublesome Starfleet captains. He has also become the Black Ops Division's "Section" hunter. To date, he has found and killed fourteen Section 31 operatives in Starfleet, more than anyone else in SIBOD's history. On the Prospero, Jander's mission is to collect information on the things discovered in the unexplored territory and report them back to his superiors. He is posing as a science officer. | PERSONALITY PROFILE |

Psychologically scarred and somewhat
tormented by his past, Jander is a very private person. He would rather listen
to someone talk about themselves rather than talk about himself. Although the
device the Orions implanted is gone he sometimes still feels an overwhelming
desire to please people at times, especially when someone he knows is distraught
or otherwise upset. He can do this in one of two ways, the only ways he know
how: kill someone for them or give them physical gratification, like sexual
intercourse. Jander will stop at nothing to complete an assignment and has nearly no regard for other people's lives, especially those of his victims. He is a consumate professional when 'on the job'. Although this aspect has changed somewhat since he became a crewmember of the Aurora, Excalibur and Liberation. On those assignments he actually made some friends and learned a little about platonic relationships while keeping an eye on certain individuals for SIBOD. In his spare time he studies biology and xeno-biology to further enhance his shape shifting ability. He also practices a variety of martial arts. He also practices acting in holo-novels to improve his ability to impersonate different people and species. When he's being himself Jander is quite the smooth talker and charmer to women and men alike. He is not picky who he shares a bed with and still relishes being able to please both sexes in either form. The only thing he takes seriously is his job and his hatred for people that would enslave others. |

Because of his extensive history and
experience in the espionage arena, Jander has come to speak most alpha and beta
quadrant languages fluently. In his spare time he practices a variety of martial arts. He's not necessarily an expert in any one discipline, but his knowledge makes him extremely difficult to beat in hand to hand combat. Jander also enjoys acting and interactive holonovels. This keeps his ability to mimic people in top form. He also holds degrees in xenobiology and life sciences from Starfleet Academy. Studying different species and other animal forms has enhanced his shapesifting ability considerably over the years. Jander Pahnel is a chameloid whose appearance changes as he sees fit. Currently, he is 1.75m (5'9") tall and weighs 77kg (170 lbs). He has brown hair with blonde highlights. When not imitating someone specific his irises are two different colors, the left one is blue and the right one is green. He prefers a body type that suggests speed and stamina over one of brute strength. Jander was presumably born on the chameloid homeworld but is not entirely sure exactly when. A bit about Chameloids... A shapeshifting race that not much is known about. They can assume any humanoid shape upon visual examination. With physical contact can mimic all aspects of another lifeform, external and internal (including lifesigns) with the exception of telepathy (ex. couldn't be exact duplicate of a betaziod but could 'look' like one). There are mass and volume constraints to his abilities, but Jander has yet to morph into something that tests these limits. One limitation on his morphing is not being able to take the form of inanimate objects. Also, unlike the Founders of the Dominion, Jander doesn't have to revert to a gelatinous state every few days, he can hold a shape indefinitely. Chameloids also cannot be 'read' by telepaths. They are essentially telepathic 'blank spots' to Betaziods or other telepathic species. Chameloids can also identify each other no matter what form they have taken. If injured badly, something more than a superficial cut or scrape, they cannot change shape until the wounds are healed. Because of the unique genetic structure that allows shapeshifting, chameloids can only get other chameloids pregnant. When morphing into animal shapes, he retains his intelligence but becomes somewhat susceptible to the instincts and whims of the creature he's imitating (For example, if he's a dog, he'll stop and pee at every tree and fire hydrant and feel overwhelming urges to sniff every ass in sight. |

Ah, well, what can I say about Jander?
Those of you familiar with Isaac Asimov's robot novels will recognize the name.
Jander was named after Daneel's twin brother who was rendered inoperable by
Gladia. This character is the polar opposite of Daneel. Olivaw I wrote as mostly
a goody-twoshoes, Pahnel I made up as the 'evil twin' so to speak. He's great
fun to write and can be used in almost any situation for ...well,
anything. I've largely been afraid to try him in other games for fear he wouldn't be accepted. Most pbem's I've come across don't allow characters with his unique abilities. Too bad for them. |
