BACKGROUND & HISTORY
Born to Matthew and Rebekah Young, Jennifer was the younger of twins. Her ‘older’ brother Erik was born 6 minutes before her, and never let her forget it. Jennifers’ early childhood was spent under the careful supervision of her brother and parents. When her younger sister, Lorelai was born her parents became consumed by the newborn in the house so she turned to Erik for solace and support. Not one to hold a grudge Jen allowed her parents the happiness of a new child without much bitterness. Anxious to make sure their twins didn’t feel left out Jen’s parents hired a music tutor for both Erik and Jen. Erik flourished and fell in love with anything music related. Jen enjoyed playing the piano but she never felt the ‘love’ for it that her brother did. However, when Lorelai was 3 Jen took great pleasure in teaching the toddler everything she could. That was the start of Jen’s teaching career.

All through High School Jen helped her teachers after school for extra credit. As part of her Community Service requirement she worked at a local elementary school. It was there she solidified her plan to become a teacher. When she was a freshman her brother encouraged her to ty out for the swim team, to give her something ‘non academic’ to do during her spare time. He hated seeing his intelligent, beautiful and witty sister hunched over her books not spending much time with her friends. Reluctantly she did, not expecting much. Jennifer was more than surprised when she made the team.

Between her Swim Team obligations and her after school tutoring sessions Jen rarely had any time to herself, which was exactly how she liked it. During her Junior year, while most of her friends were talking about ‘when they went to the academy’ Jen was looking at Post secondary schools. As soon as she stepped onto the Yale Campus she knew she was in love. Her Father balked, being a Harvard Grad but after seeing the excitement in her eyes Matthew knew he could deny his daughter the enjoyment of going to Yale. Jennifer worked even harder, which earned her Salutorian of her class and a spot at Yale. While her friends went to San Fransisco to join Starfleet, Jennifer packed her stuff and mover herself to New Haven.

Majoring in Elementary Education and double minoring in History and Journalism Jennifer plodded her way through 2 years of school happily and enthusiastically. In her Junior year of Yale she ran into an…unexpected surprise. She fell madly in love. She met Johnathan Brown at the annual Yale/Harvard game and was in love at first sight. She was able to forgive him for his ‘unfortunate’ affiliation with Harvard, though that fact endeared him to her father. The day she graduated from Yale was the day Johnathan proposed. A year later, they were married.

Jen accepted a job at George Washington Elementary School in Falls Church Virginia. After 5 years of living and working in the ‘Civilian Sector’ Johnathan felt that he had reached a plateau and wanted to rejoin Starfleet. After receiving a position as a science officer on the USS Prospero, Johnathan faced the daunting task of telling his wife that they were moving away from all that she knew and everyone she loved. As he knew would happen the news was received….badly to say the least by a normally calm Jennifer. It was the first time Johnathan had seen her temper, and most likely the last time he ever wanted to see it. After retreating to the comfort of her brother Jennifer decided it would be best for her to accompany her husband, rather than split up. She couldn’t bear to be away from him and she loved him enough that she was willing to step out of her comfort zone and follow him anywhere…even to the stars.

She found that there was an open teaching position in the ship’s school. Happy to have at least this one minor distraction she readily accepted the position. Now her challenge is to see if she could fit in, in a place where she knows only one person in an environment she has never encountered before…
PERSONALITY PROFILE
Outgoing and very friendly Jennifer makes friends easily. However under her calm and serene exterior lies a firebrand. She has a hell of a temper and isn’t afraid to voice her opinions and feelings, regardless if they are wanted or needed. When out of her element Jen can be a tad shy, testing the waters to see if she’ll sink or swim before she plunges in head first. Jennifer can also be very stubborn at times.
