| EDUCATION |
| Most of Myra's primary and secondary education came from home-schooling aboard the settler ship. Later, she attended an ad hoc secondary school on the settler colony. Following that, she attended college on the Harvard II, majoring in pre-law, then went on to law school on the Duke. |

| BACKGROUND & HISTORY |
|
Myra grew up almost solely onboard a starship. The few times she set foot on a planet prior to the establishment of Uxali Uxor involved brief exploratory excursions to determine whether a planet was suitable for colonists. The wanderings of the Uxali resulted in numerous bruisings against various governments. Myra began to become more aware of the nature of interstellar law as her ship pushed its way out of the Delta Quadrant and began running up against the big dogs of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. It was this which initially prompted her interest in legal studies. She applied to the pre-law program on the Harvard II, hoping that the mobile nature of the college would provide opportunity to see interstellar law in practice. What she hadn't anticipated, however, was having her drive for a lawyerly career impelled by a scuffle that occurred on Uxali Uxor over extradition rights. Bringing up the on-going case to her professor, hoping to send some advice back home, Myra was appalled to discover that the Federation had little codified law on extradition. Thinking her professor must have just not been up-to-date on that part of the law and driven by curiosity, Myra applied to law school. To her disappointment, she found that not only did the Federation lack a clear extradition doctrine, even one arising solely from precedent, but most of the interstellar powers lacked one. The good that emerged from law school, beyond passing the bar, was Myra met Skyler. Another law student, Skyler began as Myra's tutor in torts, an area of law that ceaselessly befuddled Myra. It didn't take long for a relationship to develop. When Skyler passed his bar exam, Myra proposed. When she passed hers, they got married the next day. Soon thereafter, they moved to San Francisco so Myra could attend Starfleet Academy. The civilian positions available when she graduated were all planet-bound, a concept that never left her comfortable. Starfleet looked like the perfect way to advance her career while still being able to move around the quadrant. Unfortunately, after the Academy, Myra was assigned as an attorney to Tycho Base. Skyler remained behind on Earth, having found himself a particularly engaging consulting job during the time Myra was at the Academy. A combination of inability and unwillingness to find a similar position aboard the Base, strain entered the marriage for the first time. For two years, they kept their marriage together as a commuter relationship. Until 2410. A malfunction on the Skyler's shuttle caused it to veer off-course and crash while en route to Tycho Base. Skyler died in the accident. Crushed, guilt-ridden, and otherwise devastated by the loss of her husband, Myra threw herself into her work. She sought out obscure cases and spent most nights research case law. Eventually, her research interests turned to technology law, a specialty of Skyler's, and property. When the opportunity arose to take a position aboard the USS Prospero, Myra jumped at the chance. It would be a means of finally escaping all the memories that hung around the Base. |
| PERSONALITY PROFILE |
| Myra has a passionate love of the law. All law: Federation, Romulan, Uxali. She has an unshakable desire to reform certain aspects of the law that she considers to be insufficient to meet the needs of the interstellar universe. Beyond her work, she enjoys relaxing and has to fight hard against a tendency to procrastinate when the pressure's off. Easy-going, if reserved about relationships, Myra has never been the life of the party, preferring hanging with a few friends to anything more chaotic. |
| SPECIAL CHARACTER NOTES |
|
From Memory Alpha: The Uxali are a humanoid species native to the Delta Quadrant planet Uxal. Their planet was a peaceful one, on the path to advancement when an Earth probe, Friendship 1 from across the galaxy entered their atmosphere. It told them about the Humans, about how to communicate, and about how to build warp drive technology. Prior to this incident, the Uxali had no idea that antimatter existed. One of the early experiments with it following resulted in a massive antimatter explosion, polluting the once M-class atmosphere with poisonous gas and radiation. Many Uxali were killed, and the few that survived were forced to live in underground caverns that partially protected them from the radiation. (VOY: "Friendship One") |
